In order to give you more detailed insights, we asked Jessica Pruiti, Talent Acquisition Associate at Munich Re, US in Princeton, New Jersey, to tell us more about the traineeship, its application process, and Munich Re as an employer.

The people who thrive here at Munich Re embrace innovation and balance that with a healthy appreciation for managing risk. The International Graduate Trainee Programme, and the Predictive Analytics track in particular, is challenging. Applicants need to be both adaptable and intellectually curious. A global mindset is also key.

Whom is the programme designed for? What is the expected qualification profile?

Especially at Munich Re in the US, the programme is designed to identify and develop potential leaders at Munich Re. Participants move through as a team, learning from experienced mentors and experts in order to quickly make meaningful contributions to our business.

We’re looking for a wide range of perspectives. So we recruit students and recent graduates with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in a variety of fields, including risk management, insurance, actuarial science, math, statistics, economics, finance, accounting, business administration, pre-law and law.

How would you describe Munich Re as an employer?

I have worked at Munich Re for five years and even though we are a large, global organisation, there is still an intimate setting here on our Princeton campus. Everyone is very willing to help one another to be successful. Munich Re does a lot to foster that, from flexible and innovative spaces and work arrangements to great programmes and benefits for employees. As an athlete, I particularly love our state-of-the-art onsite gym!

Would you please tell us about the application process? What kind of interviews and tests should the applicant be prepared for?

Throughout the fall, we will be reviewing resumes and conducting phone interviews to ultimately bring the top candidates on site for an interview day. We also invite candidates to come in the night before their interview days and get to know us over dinner.
