In the area claims
Data is a major business asset for almost all enterprises. Munich Re Claims has data from contracts and loss events from more than the last 100 years. This data can be used e.g. to improve the understanding of past events, to gain deeper insights in loss causes, to make predictions about future events and invent new reinsurance products and services. To do this, the data must be made accessible for automatic processing. Munich Re Claims therefore is conducting the “Global Loss Data & Analytics” project, using data science tools and techniques such as search engines, “Smart Matching” or “Natural Language Processing” (NLP). In order to validate their results, to derive rules or even train machines, human expertise, understanding and input is required upfront.
