Graduate Trainee (m/f) Munich Re

Munich Re is a major global organisation with over 45,000 employees. One of its most innovative businesses is a specialist global unit Digital Partners, which works with start-ups and digital companies to build new digital insurance products. The 30 strong team, of whom half are based in London, includes commercial, underwriting, actuarial, project, legal and technology skillsets. We are looking for a university graduate to join us in September 2018 on our 2 year graduate programme. We are open to candidates from any discipline so long as you are numerate and interested in technology. As part of Digital Partners, you will have the opportunity to learn about our changing industry in depth and gain exposure to different areas of the business. We will expect you to spend a 12 week or longer period working in one or both of our US offices in Cincinnati and Palo Alto. Additionally, you will be part of our wider International Graduate Programme comprising training on and off the job. This will involve attending modules at our Munich Head Office and in Princeton, USA to develop a deeper understanding of the business and your soft skills. This is an important extension to your development within the role, giving you an excellent overview of Munich Re as a global organisation and an opportunity to network with other Graduates. As well as the assignment in the US, there will be local training opportunities (i.e. language skills, collaboration training, networking skills, etc.), which would allow you to broaden your opportunities within the Group. YOUR JOB

Job Purpose:       
 
To develop the necessary skill sets to play a leading role in one or more of the disciplines in Digital Partners
 
Key Responsibilities:

  • Learn and contribute to the Digital Partners business model across all of our activities
  • Become an expert in our data collection and transformation
  • Be part of the team delivering innovative products to market in conjunction with insurtech start-ups

 General Duties and Tasks:
 
The successful candidate will spend their first year working across the range of Digital Partners activities, including partner engagement, project delivery, R&D, underwriting and operations.
 
At the end of the first year, we will agree with the successful candidate which team or teams they will focus on for their second year.
 
Duties and Tasks will include:

  • Meet and help evaluate new start-up partnerships
  • Help structure and execute delivery of projects
  • Learn and contribute to product design
  • Lead data collection, transformation and monitoring
  • Join R&D teams exploring new technologies such as AI, machine learning, and image recognition and finding ways to incorporate these in our partnership proposition

  • Computer literate and familiar with packages such as Excel, Word and Power Point

Qualifications

  • Degree – minimum 2:1 achieved / predicted
  • Strong “A” level grades
