Pamela (Pam) Taylor is Senior Associate in Corporate Management Development at Bertelsmann. She develops employer branding and marketing initiatives, manages two of the corporation’s central talent programs (Student Challenge Program and the Gap Year Program), recruits for the media company’s post-MBA rotational program (Bertelsmann Entrepreneurs Program) and organizes the Bertelsmann’s legendary international networking event: Talent Meets Bertelsmann (TMB). The things she especially likes about her job are the people and the internationality. For the New Jersey (USA) native, there is no perfect applicant. However, they should share the company’s values, demonstrate that they go above and beyond with the goals they set for themselves and, naturally, bring a great passion for the media industry to the table.
Although Pam studied English Literature during her Bachelor’s degree in the States and is a big fan of Penguin Random House authors, it took her six years, experience in four different industries and an MBA before she found her way to Bertelsmann’s headquarters in Germany. That’s not atypical at Bertelsmann - the company is looking for all kinds of talents with different backgrounds, says Pam, “what counts is the unique combination of individual abilities and experience!” Talent Meets Bertelsmann offers her and her colleagues the opportunity to discover such talents, to establish a long-lasting relationship with them via the TMB alumni network, and to ultimately win some of them over to join the company.
And Bertelsmann is doing so with great success: TMB is turning 10 this year and has built an alumni base of over 500 top talents. Over 100 TMB participants have already worked for Bertelsmann in various business sectors and positions.
